about yo. i'm matt. i'm an old man. i'm a full time college student :stresssmoke:. important things to know....... uhhhhh..... i'm gay and trans and all my characters are some form of queer in gender and sexuality. i love to write and i love to yap about characters. i love to make playlists and pinterest boards and send memes. and just enjoy the collaboration of rp.i know sometimes it seems like i'm not very excited about stuff, but i really truly promise i am. it's the autism. i'm trying to be better about it, but tone is very hard for me to convey without it feeling like i'm coming across as sarcastic or trying too hard. but trust and believe, i am flustering and pounding my desk and screaming into my hands over any roleplay i'm part of.

the child of nobles, josephine was raised to be a proper noble man. one day to be the marquis de voclain. of course, life is never that simple and things behind closed doors are usually behind closed doors for reasons. it didn't quite go that way. she took an interest in swords from a young age though. proficient in blades and even more proficient, claimed a prodigy, in magicks, josephine pursued knighthood. becoming a proper paladin came along with that.after being knighted, it wasn't long before josephine was sent off to war. she was good in combat, an invaluable tool with her quick shields and bulky stature. not hailed as some sort of hero, but the sort that other fighters knew they could rely on.then the calamity came and with it ice and snow, frozen lands and frozen people. josie was part of efforts to help dig out people from coerthas. that was where things went... wrong. a stray dragon caught her unawares, left her bleeding out in the snow. she thought herself dead, then lucky when strangers found her, promising healing.instead, they fed her dragon blood.she lived, she didn't transform. not fully anyways. but she was changed, though she wouldn't see the effects of that for time to come. she kept it hidden, kept it all locked up tight, kept fighting in the war. until the war was over. and knights were left without battles to fight. she saw all that trauma, all the anger and fear and rage that had been directed at outside, start to get directed within.one night was all it took. she snapped. one knight didn't survive. several were left permanently injured. and she was arrested. treason or something like it. she chose a trial by combat via dragon. the war was over, but old laws hadn't been rewritten to reflect that and she'd choose dying in the snow facing a dragon over having to face down another knight any day.and she survived that dragon, though not unscathed. burned across a good portion of her body, josie spent a long while healing. the heresy charges came next. inquisitors took her away and she was out of sight for a good while. no more witchdrop trials were making the inquisitors of old antsy and angry, with someone to take it out on now. it was half a year before josephine turned up in ishgard again.she was starting to find the consequences of the dragon blood. starting to find herself even more unwelcome in her family home. without much of anywhere or anyone to turn to. she turned to hunting, striking out into coerthas forests. anything to keep moving, keep going.things happen, as they are wont to do, the sort of things that josie isn't liable to spill openly. but things got worse, a lot worse, but then they started to get better. she met rhiker, met some other people, started making herself a little family.and now she's making herself a home. a proper one. with love and all the good things she didn't get as a kid.

ishgardians, nobles and not.

josie was born and raised ishgardian nobility. and now she's sort of tiptoeing back into the fringes of it with trying to establish house metzger as something. maybe not as a noble house or anything. but a name to be aware of for those that try and cling to the old ways.a lot of josie's efforts these days are to helping out the people of the brume. she's started a greenhouse and is getting some of the braver kids to help her out with it. one day, she hopes it'll be something of a community garden for those in the brume.there's a lot more to come that she and rhiker are working on, so if you want to get in on that, she'd welcome the help.

knights and knight types.

as a veteran of the dragonsong war and just a general old knight bitch, josie would know a lot of knights around the ishgard area. especially if they were knights over a decade ago or so. she hasn't been a knight for eight or so years. so anyone before that time... very open for the possibility of any of those sorts to be aware of sebastien de voclain, but especially of the fact that he /snapped/ and attacked a bunch of fellow knights to devastating effects and a trial by dragon.even though she calls herself a former knight, she still heavily believes in a knight's honor.

inquisitors, heretics, etc.

she drank dragon blood! not of her own choice, but she did the thing! and now she's /embracing/ the thing. dragon eyes and scales and fangs and... well, she looks like a heretic, for a definition of the word that might not even exist anymore these days. but there are certainly going to be those that hold fast to those old laws...and on that note: dragons. josie is learning how to deal with dragon blood in her veins. down to her soul, it feels like. she wants to know all she can. she's constantly out in dravania, the churning mists, anywhere she can to learn about what it was like /before/. and what good it could be like now. with the war over and the truth out there.

bijoux

a rescue from a job josie and rhiker did together. bijoux is constantly at josie's heels and goes most places with her. her favorite thing in the world is chasing butterflies and she does it in her sleep too.

kain

coaxed to rhiker and josie's first home with a bowl of cream, kain is presumably living in their house. she comes and goes as is her wont and rhiker is her favorite.

charlie

one of the few chocobos to not be scared of josie. initially, she regularly borrowed charlie from an old chocobo stable keeper who decided to gift him to her in thanks for her help around the stables and his farm.

praline

rhiker's child definitely. she exists on his shoulder or in his scarf. and occasionally, in her cushion pile in the house. lazy, spoiled, and living her best life of luxury.

josie's heart, her love. they saved each other and now they're building a life together that had once been nothing but a pipe dream they talked about when they thought it impossible to obtain. she would absolutely tear the whole star down just for him.

not the woman who birthed or raised her, but josie considers morana more of a mother than the marquise. of course, that's made very interesting because morana is a dragon, but she's taken to josie all the same. josie is learning everything she can about dragons from morana.
